Mission Creek Regional Park, September 24, 2011.
The Kelowna Right to Life Society held its annual fundraiser, The Walk for Life, in Mission Creek Regional Park on Saturday. Event goers were blessed with sunny skies and a record high temperature and enjoyed a pleasurable walk along the Mission Creek Greenway. Upon returning from their walk, the traditional balloon release was held. Dozens of balloons were released into the sky, with the hope they will eventually be found by someone who needs to hear the pro life messages enscribed on them. While only about 30 people came out to support the event, over $2000 was raised to help promote a culture of life in the Okanagan. Top fundraisers Lars and Caleb Krohn were responsible for gathering over half of all funds raised! Meanwhile, Marilyn Thalheimer was the lucky winner of a $100 gift certificate from Future Shop in Kelowna. A special thanks to volunteers Krista Krohn and Family, Adrianna Knuth, and Praxair for donating helium for the event. See pictures of the event below:
