Upcoming Events 3rd Annual BC March for Life This year's theme: "Life, The First Human Right." The 3rd annual BC March for Life will taking place on Thursday, May 13th 2010 in Victoria. The march will be held on the same day as the National March for Life in Ottawa. Over 10,000 are expected to take in that event, with some organizers trying to inspire twice that number. Last year, despite cold and rainy weather the annual March exceeded 12,000 people, a 50% increase in the year before and the largest March for Life ever in Canada. Despite what was perhaps one of the largest groups ever assembled on Parliament Hill for any reason, the media was predictably mum on the March, prompting several pro life leaders to contact the CBC and lodge formal and informal complaints. It will be interesting to see how the media reacts to the march this year in light of the critical reaction they received last year. Likewise in Victoria where very little media coverage of the 2nd annual March for Life was garnered, despite nearly 2,000 people making their way through downtown Victoria to the Legislature where a variety of speakers spoke on the abortion issue. This year, Bishop Monroe of Kamloops, BC, Jose Ruba of the Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform, Minerva Macapagal of the Capilano College Pro Life club, Dr. Robert Fitterer, and Rachel Daniels are schedule to speak. Bound4Life Kelowna chapter will be hosting their monthly Silent Siege at Kelowna General Hospital on Pandosy Street on Saturday, March 20th from 11 am to 12 pm. The Siege is part of an ongoing campaign to call upon God to end abortion in Kelowna and across Canada. Sieges are held every month at various locations around Kelowna, and the group intends on sponsoring them for the foreseeable future. The UBCO campus, Knox Mountain, and other locations are being considered as sites for upcoming Seiges. The monthly sieges have been occurring since last fall and have seen anywhere from 40 to 140 people attending. Organizers are hoping for a large turnout to March's Siege, citing fair weather and promotion of the event as catalysts for a sizeable turnout. Kelowna Right to Life is excited to announce that the first 40 Days for Life ever to be held in British Columbia will take place in Kelowna February 17 to March 28! 40 Days for Life campaigns are being simultaneously held at dozens of locations across the U.S. and Canada. Past initiatives have seen dozens of clinic workers convert to the pro life side, abortion mills reduce their hours of operation or shut down altogether, and hundreds of abortion-minded women change their minds and choose life for their babies. The initiative is based on the idea that God used the 40 day time frame to transform individuals, communities, and even the entire world. From Noah's flood to Moses on the mountain to the disciples after Christ's resurrection, it is clear that God sees the transformative value of His people accepting and meeting a 40-day challenge.
